What This Course Covers

It is now a requirement of Health & Safety law that all employers provide their staff with a safe environment to work in. During your risk assessment, if it highlights a need for qualified first aiders, this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) will satisfy the requirements as set by the Health & Safety Executive (HSE).

This is an in-depth and comprehensive 1 day first aid course that will cover a broad range of first aid scenarios and emergencies. This will teach all participants to deal with emergency situations as they arise with confidence in a fast, safe and effective way.

By completing this course you will gain an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification which will exceed the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

You will be assessed throughout the day during practical scenarios but this is not a stressful examination process. If you are not confident with a particular technique or topic that we cover, we will go over these areas in further detail until everyone is satisfied, including us. You will have ample opportunity to discuss all topics as we move through the day.

Qualification

Your Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate is valid for three years from the date you complete your training. To renew your qualification, you will need to attend a further six-hour Emergency First Aid at Work course.

The EFAW qualification is a nationally recognised and accredited award. At First Aid Plymouth, we go beyond the minimum standards required of a course provider by the HSE.

In 2013, the HSE deregulated the first aid industry, meaning externally regulated certification is no longer a requirement. However, in certain specialist or high-risk environments, external regulation may still be requested. If this applies to your workplace, please let us know before booking and we will be happy to advise you.

First Aid Training Courses For Individuals & Groups

Training 5 Or More People? If so, have you considered a private group?

We are happy to run private groups for any of our first aid courses. These can be held at either our dedicated first aid training centre in Plymouth or at a venue of your choosing. There is no additional cost for private groups; we just require some parking to be available for your instructor.

We bring all of our own equipment so you don’t have to worry about a thing.
